S.A Brain & Coy Ltd brings together centuries of South Wales brewing tradition. The Old Brewery, founded in the heart of Cardiff in 1713, was purchased by Samuel Arthur Brain and his Uncle Joseph Benjamin Brain in 1882. The company has remained in family ownership ever since.
In 1997, the Company purchased South Wales’ other leading independent brewer Crown Buckley, which had been formed from the merger of the Crown Brewery of Pontyclun with the famous Buckley’s Brewery of Llanelli, originally founded in 1767.
Having outgrown the Old Brewery premises, the company moved to the larger Cardiff Brewery in Crawshay Street in the year 2000, where the full range of Brains and Buckley’s Ales is still produced in the traditional manner in the heart of Europe’s fastest growing Capital City.
