Brains Team to cycle Land’s End to John O’Groats
A team of three are set to cycle the length of the UK in a bid to raise more than £12,000 for the Wooden Spoon charity. The team, made up of Bill Dobson (Head Brewer), Ian Beattie and Laura Overton (both Marketing) will set off on Saturday 20th August and finish 874 miles and eight days later in Lands End.
‘Team Brains’ will join 38 other riders from across the UK on the ‘End to End’ ride organised by Wooden Spoon – a charity supporting disadvantaged children and young people across the UK. The charity organises fundraising initiatives, spending money raised where it is most needed. Recent recipients in South Wales include Ynyswen Infants School in Treorchy, Touch Trust in Cardiff, Ashgrove School in Penarth, and Bobath, based in Cardiff.
To help hit the team hit their fundraising target Brains has produced a ‘Brains Beer’ cycling jersey – with £8 from every sale donated to the cause – which is available to buy from our online shop.
Bill Dobson, Head Brewer at Brains said: "We’re all keen cyclists but cycling almost 900 miles in eight days will be a tough, to say the least. Hopefully the hours of training will pay off and, thanks to some steep climbs in and around Cardiff, we’ll be well prepared for the challenge."
