Swansea pub regular Alison Gilpin will be swapping Sketty Park for Sydney after winning an all expenses trip to Australia, courtesy of Foster’s lager.
Alison entered the holiday of a lifetime prize draw after buying a pint of the Amber Nectar in her local Brains pub, the Hen Dderwen. Her name was selected at random from thousands of entries and she can now look forward to two weeks in Oz with her husband.
Alison said "When I entered I never imagined I’d actually win. My husband and I were planning on taking a break in the UK this year so to find out we’ll be holidaying 10,000 miles away instead is fantastic. I’m hoping to be away for my birthday later this year, which will make it one to remember, and I’ll almost certainly be celebrating with a pint of Foster’s."
The Hen Dderwen’s manager Andrea Owen, who runs the pub with her husband Eric, said: "Alison has long been a regular at the pub so we’re thrilled that she’s won. I’d like to think I sold her the winning pint!"
Foster’s spokesman Henry Fairbanks added: "There can't be many promotions where buying a pint in South Wales can directly lead to winning a holiday in New South Wales. Foster's drinkers can look forward to enjoying a wide range of promotions in Brains pubs this year as we seek to build on the popularity of Australia's most famous beer."
