A beer brewed to celebrate the patron saint of Wales is back. St David’s Ale, the speciality ale from Welsh brewer SA Brain and Co Ltd, hits pubs throughout Wales and England this week.
Launched to coincide with the of the National Saint's Day of Wales (1st March), St David's Ale is a light coloured ale, dry hopped with Styrian Goldings to create a thirst quenching spring ale with a refreshing bite and dry hop aroma.
Now in its 13th year, the ale has become a favourite amongst ale drinkers throughout Wales. But in recent years Brains has seen a huge growth in sales across the border, which has helped make it the best performing ale in the brewer’s speciality portfolio.
Richard Davies, Sales and Marketing Director at Brains said: "It’s great to see our Welsh ale proving so popular in England. But it’s not our only success story across the border. SA Gold has been a huge hit in bottled format in supermarkets and is now available to buy in more than 800 English supermarkets."
St David’s Ale is one of several speciality ales brewed by Brains throughout the year. Others in the portfolio include the Dylan Thomas inspired ‘Milkwood’ and official ale of the Grand Slam ‘Bread of Heaven’.
