The Plough in Whitchurch reopened this week (Wednesday 23rd May) after major refurbishment. The Brains-owned pub, in the heart of Whitchurch Village, has seen a change in menu, decor, and will offer a wider selection of real ales.
While the Plough has been transformed, Brains has been careful to retain a pub atmosphere. Philip Lay, retail director at Brains explains: "Pubs have undoubtedly changed in recent years and today customers expect a lot more from their local. But at the same time they still expect a pub to be a pub. We’ve worked hard to deliver a traditional and unpretentious British inn, serving great food and quality ale."
Managers Bernadette and Brendan Hopkins said: "It’s a complete transformation and we’re delighted with the result. We’ve created a lovely, traditional British inn, compete with open fireplaces, wooden floors, and a fantastic outside drinking and dining space. On the bar we’ve got a range of real ales, and in the kitchen we’ll be showcasing the best seasonal Welsh produce and some fantastic homemade specials. We’ve got a great team of staff, most of whom are local, and we’re all really looking forward to meeting everyone in the village and hope they’ll call in soon to say hello and enjoy a pint."
