Here's a selection of the questions we're asked the most. If you don't see your question here, contact us and we’ll do our best to get back to you with an answer.

  1. Do you have any pubs outside of Wales?

Yes, we have a number of pubs spread throughout the West Country and the Midlands. Find out more in our pub finder section.

  2. Is your beer available to buy outside Wales?

Yes. SA Gold is available in a 500ml bottle all Sainsbury’s, Morrisons and Waitrose supermarkets and Thresher stores in England. Our full range of beers are also available on the bar in some pubs and hotels throughout England.

  3. Can I visit the brewery?

Unfortunately we do not offer brewery tours. However, if you are interested in finding out how our beers are brewed, have a look at our brewing process animation. We also sell a 'Brains: 125 Years' book which documents the history of Brains.

  4. What's the difference between cask and keg beers?

Cask beer (or Real Ale) contains yeast which continues to ferment slowly in the cask producing natural carbon dioxide. Finings are added to the cask to help sediment the yeast and before being served the cask has to be allowed to settle to clarify the beer. It is served through a hand pump.

Keg beer is filtered, carbonated or nitrogenated and pasteurised before being filled into the kegs and is ready to drink as soon as it is packaged.

  5. What are the main ingredients in beer?

Beer is an alcoholic drink brewed mainly from malted barley, hops, yeast and water although other sources of fermentable carbohydrate (eg. maize, wheat, rice) and other natural ingredients may be added to create different styles and flavours.

  6. Do you offer sponsorship?

As you can appreciate we get hundreds of requests each month to support events and we are not able to sponsor every event. Our process for dealing with sponsorship requests is as follows:

    1. You provide full details of the sponsorship (dates, audience, added value, costs, etc).
    2. Your proposal is circulated to our marketing team.
    3. If we are interested we will contact you to discuss the opportunity in more detail.

If you do not hear from us then unfortunately you have not been successful in securing sponsorship with Brains. We would like you to understand that we are a small team at Brains and that we have chosen this process to ensure that we can continue focus on our creative marketing that promote our brands.

Please also note that because we are a beer brand we do not support any event involving under-18's.
